Paragraphs for the Web
Reading online can be very stressful to a persons eyes. To make matters worse, the scrolling option that web pages have can cause people to lose their place when trying to continue reading after scrolling up or down a page. Because of these factors and several others, website paragraphs should be separated with line breaks instead of the traditional paragraph indentations.
It’s also helpful to break paragraphs up smaller than you would typically see in a book or college paper (create a line break every 2-4 lines if possible). This will give your readers the ability to quickly find their spot after scrolling or resting their eyes.
Your website is designed to help you use line breaks on your pages and posts. When you hit “enter” or “return” on your keyboard, you will see that you get an automatic line break.
Avoiding the line break feature
In some rare occasions you may not want to put a double space in your text when you hit enter. For example, if you have a “Pastor’s Greeting” on your website, you may want to leave your signature at the bottom like this:
Thanks
Pastor Johnson
You don’t want a double space between “thanks” and “Pastor Johnson”. To stop the double space from happening, hold down the “Shift” key on the keyboard and then hit “return” or “enter”. That will give you a single space.
