Backroom Overview

Your Backroom (sometimes called the Editing Room) is where you will do all of your web page editing. It may look complicated at first but you will quickly learn your way around.

How to log in to your Backroom

  1. Go to your ActingFaith website
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to click on the “Log In” link
  3. Fill in your Username and Password and then hit the blue button that says “Log In”

Once you are in your Backroom you will find that a column of buttons on the left side of the page. These buttons give you the following options:

  • Dashboard - Here you will find basic info about your site including what theme (or design) you are currently using, how much free space is available on your site, how many pages and posts you have, and how many comments you have.
  • Posts - If you click this button you will see a list of all current blog posts. You can create a new post from here or edit one that already exists.
  • Media - Click the media button to view all the media files you have uploaded to your site so far. You will see all photos, audio files, word docs, PowerPoint presentations, and anything else you have uploaded. You can delete items from this section if you are no longer using them on the site.
  • Pages - This button gives you access to edit your current pages, delete current pages, or add new pages. You can also change the order in which they are displayed on your website from here.
  • Comments - Here you can see the comments that people have been leaving on your blog posts. You can approve them so they will show up on the site, delete them if you don’t like them, edit them if you need to cut something inappropriate out of them, or contact the people who wrote them by email.
  • Users - This is where you can edit your name and password, add new users, delete users, and give users more or less rights on the site.
  • Tools - Here you can save backups of your website and even change your domain name (we recommend you let us handle your domain name as it can be a rather complex process and we do it free of charge).
  • Settings - This is where you can change all sorts of things from the title and catch phrase of your website to the way in which your site handles comment moderation.
  • Subscriptions - Here you can see when your next website payment will be due. This reflects our standard rate. If you are charged a different rate due to special programs that you are using, the price listed here may not be accurate.
  • Events Calendar - This is where you can add, edit, and delete events from your calendar.
  • StatPress - Here you can view all sorts of statistics about your website. You will find out how many people are visiting you, what they are looking at on your site and even where they are from.
  • To learn more about each of these things in your editing room, simply continue to read and watch the rest of your training or feel free to explore on your own. It’s fun. You’ll be a pro in no time!
